ABOUT ME:
I am a Chartered Clinical Psychologist in Great Britain and a member of the British Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), the Czech Association for Psychotherapies (ČAP), the Czech Society for Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (ČSKBT), the International Society for Schema Therapy (ISST), the Schema Therapy Institute for Czechia and Slovakia, and the European Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Therapies (EABCT).
After completing my studies in Neuroscience (BSc in Neuroscience at Sussex University, MSc in Neurological Science and PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience at University College London) and having worked in human brain research at Hamburg University, I decided to reorient my career towards Clinical Psychology, completing a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at the Institute of Psychiatry (IoP, King’s College London).
I am trained and certified in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Schema Therapy (ST). I also work with the Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) models. I have worked over 18 years in public health (British NHS), at six universities in various countries, and in private practice in Prague.
My offer individual therapy for adults. I specialise in interpersonal difficulties (in intimate relationships, family, at work, personality disorders), intrapersonal difficulties (self-esteem, decision-making, problem-solving, unhelpful habits), recovery from traumatic experiences (post-traumatic stress disorder, acute stress disorder), affective disorders (depression, bipolar disorder, dysthymia, cyclothymia…) and anxiety disorders (generalised anxiety, health anxiety, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder). I have experience treating typical psychological difficulties among the expat population. In addition, I can provide complex psychological diagnostic evaluations.
I am an expat myself. Born (1973) and raised in African Spain. I have lived in various European countries. I have travelled and experienced diverse ways of living and thinking. Life has often challenged me and I have learnt to see these challenges as opportunities to grow and widen my understanding of the world and the human potential.
My therapeutic style is open, empathic, and non-judgemental. I aim to create a safe environment in order to increase the client’s level of comfort. I offer active listening, gentle confrontation, and I encourage the client to uncover their own biases and strengths, to self-reflect, to explore their values and priorities, to reach their own conclusions, and to plan their future consciously. I follow the client’s pace and provide structure and continuity within and between sessions. I am always open to clients’ feedback so as to continuously adapt the therapeutic process to their needs.
I am a mother, daughter, and sister. I devote my free time to walking in Nature, reading, writing (see my blog in the Home section of this page), yoga, meditation, dancing, and music.
